Drawing
Watercolor
From my earliest memories, it was the image, rather than the words or even sensations, that captured and directed my energy to create. I explore color and value often with an interest in landscape. I find life drawing class is the best training for whatever I’m going to do next, whether still life, portraiture, the New Mexico landscape or a series of seashells. I am most interested in “reporting back” to the viewer of my images – perhaps to enhance, expand, form or confirm their own.
I’m inspired by Nature, the landscape or a figure and I have an initial influence from a photo, a memory or a dream. I like to sketch plein aire and always have a portable art studio in my car. I benefit from the sketching and use that as a springboard for my painting. I am also an author and the artist for my award-winning book, “A Counting of Crows”. (See my Resume in my website in the Bio – Video category for more information about the story of my book).
