Oils
I was influenced as a very young child by my mother who was an accomplished artist and lover of all things color. I have had a creative life for as long as I can remember and as a teenager took classes in drawing, painting and sculpture at the New School in New York, the Art Center of Tenafly, NJ and other local art schools. I went on to receive a BFA from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont where I discovered fiber arts and continued my sculpting practice utilizing the granite mined in quarries of Vermont.
After moving to New Mexico for a weaver’s apprenticeship, I quickly fell in love with the light and color of its incredible landscapes. I continued to hone my skills in a variety of the arts as well as work a full-time job and raise my family. Since retirement, I have rediscovered my love of painting and have been inspired by teachers and students alike at the NM Art League, Harwood Art Center and various online painting classes.
Lately, I have been painting large format abstracts primarily in oils and mixed media and I am particularly drawn to abstracting nature and landscapes.
I live near our beautiful bosque in Corrales with two goldendoodles. I have two great sons, their wonderful wives, and four amazingly creative grandchildren.
