Jenn Noel is a ceramic artist, born and raised in NM. Always viewing the world a little different, art has been a part of her life since she was a child. She received a Bachelors of Fine Art from Eastern New Mexico University and then went on to get a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of New Mexico. While in nursing school she fell in love with ceramics.
As an artist, she believes the process is the art. Working with clay commands your complete attention and has taught her to slow down, focus and pay more attention to the smallest details. She creates functional ceramics with the intent on bringing artistic beauty into everyday objects and wants to challenge the way we see ordinary things. Currently she is focusing on a deeper connection between her work and the earth. Through clay, she is exploring the earth’s qualities of texture, color and movement and just as the Earth is subjected to upheaval from the elements –earth (clay), water (floods, drought), air (firing techniques) and fire (wildfires), so is the art of clay, hopefully just in a more controlled way – as Jenn Tempers the Earth.
