Kevin Dooley

My work is an evolution of realism, with an emphasis on bright colors to showcase the beauty of the southwestern U.S., particularly New Mexico. My favorite medium is oil on canvas. I love working in other mediums for a change of pace. I enjoy painting landscapes, anatomy, portraits, and new challenging compositions. I have also had some success doing commissions for interested clients.

I take frequent photos of subjects to paint. Friends and family also offer images to my collections. I use canvas and gessoed wood for my oil paintings, and I do all my work in a studio in my home. I sometimes paint and draw outside to get a better sense of natural light. I seal all of my oil paintings with Gamvar gloss to give them a nice finish and protect the work. I use a gallery-quality printer to print my own work, which I sell in matted form.
