Darryle Bass
Art has been my first love ever since I can remember. As a small child, I was lucky enough to take classes at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Upon visiting New Mexico for the first time in early 2002, I was introduced to Storytellers, Southwest Art, and Polymer Clay.
Moving here in 2005, I took classes from artists such as Robert Rivera (Gourd Art), Tory Hughes (Polymer Clay and Doll Maker (Kate Church), soon combining my extensive background in Visual Merchandising and my newly learned skills, to develop my style that I call South West Folk Art.
My one-of-a-kind figures take on their own personality as they evolve, never knowing who will emerge. I enjoy watching people smile when they see my figures. “Art should make you happy and the right piece will speak to you.”
