For most of my childhood and young adulthood, I lived in the Midwest in the heart of farming country. I loved the spaciousness, the simplicity, being outside with nature and the animals. I always wanted to be working with my hands….drawing, painting, sewing, playing the piano, digging in the dirt…i was a jeans and t-shirt kinda gal with a passion for creating.
While in college, I started a handmade fleece hat business (Michigan has some wicked cold winters!).
Then a friend introduced me to yoga and massage and I eventually moved to Santa Fe to study those areas more in depth.
For over 20 years, I taught yoga and did massage here in Santa Fe. On the side, I started dabbling in making jewelry.
Then one sunny day, as i was driving up the mountain to go for a hike with my dog, the right front tire of my car went off the side of the road and i ended up rolling my car off the side of the mountain.
My life completely changed.
My jewelry business came out of necessity.
My back was fractured, my lungs were punctured and my left ribs were shattered.
I needed to work from home at my own pace.
I needed to surround myself with precious gems, beams of light and color and hope.
I wanted to create something that felt tender and simple and loving that could be worn…something that brought a softness and spaciousness to the body and the breath.
Something that brought me joy and also to others…like my yoga practice and teaching used to do.
