Myths & Maps was started by Timothy J Gonzales to showcase his writing (myths) and cartography (maps). Predominantly, Myths & Maps offers cartography art with a fantasy themed twist, such as the state of New Mexico. All maps are hand-drawn from start to finish by Timothy, before being digitized for printing. The prints are then hand stained to give a weathered, aged look. This whole process is done in-house by the artist himself.

I draw all of my work using archival fine liner pens. For real world maps, I use topographic and ecological survey maps, and transcribe them into an old world/fantasy version of the map. Most maps take anywhere from 40-120 hours of draw time. Most of my work is free-hand, directly to ink, with assistance from a ruler and compass for my border designs. If I make a mistake I do what cartographers and artists did before the advent of pencil, and scrape the ink off the page with a knife.
