I am a painter of landscapes and figures. Each day has moments when light illuminates the landscape in a special way, or when a face contains a special expression of mirth, power or softness. I seek to take these moments, portray and describe them on canvas, so that they can be shared by others.
The New Mexican landscape provides an endless variety of vistas, bathed in a very intense light. The deep purple shadows contrast the bands and pools of sunlight, giving the most simple of settings a special mysterious quality. I find magic in this landscape and it is a joyful to live in it and paint.
My studio is in the old village of Corrales, near the Rio Grande, north of Albuquerque. The valley, with its network of acequias, small farms and orchards set against the Sandia Mountains, provides many beautiful vistas. My horses, family, travels in Europe and the western states, are other themes.
