I work with clay, mostly making wheel thrown forms, and sometimes slab pieces. I paint on the bisque fired surfaces dipped in transparent glaze using watercolor brushes and ceramic pigments like mason stains and ceramic oxides, generally composing plant gestures to decorate the pottery surface before the high firing in the kiln. Also, I work with colored clay slips on wet clay, using a mono-printing technique. I fire the porcelain or light colored stoneware forms to the mid-range high fire cone 5 temperature. I am 58 and I have been making pottery since high school. My studio, Anthro Pottery, is open by appointment, here in Corrales.
