My work celebrates wildlife species from around the world. I aim to convey the fragile beauty and balance of nature. As a wildlife biologist, I have a unique perspective developed through years of studying and managing species and the habitats that support them.
My most recent works feature African wildlife that I encountered on a recent safari in Tanzania. I work from photographs that I take of wildlife in natural landscapes depicting the animal and its habitat.
I appreciate when people get interested in the species I paint. For some, they've never seen these animals in the wild. Many ask what inspires me to paint a particular animal. I tell them about the setting, often a national park, refuge or forest and help them understand the conservation message that goes with my art.
