When I was five and in kindergarten I knew I was an artist when I illustrated the children's story of Billy Goat's Gruff with crayons. Many, many years later, after assorted creative career endeavors, I have been led to painting with pastels.

My life-long passions are art, growing plants and reading. Greatly influenced by early exposure to fine arts and art history during children's art classes at the Cleveland Museum of Art, I have been inspired by the Great Masters, the Impressionists, and the Fauvists, along with contemporary art, cultures and history.

Two words best describe my paintings: sunlight and color. I am inspired by nature, the changing seasons and regional architecture, and I intend my work to tell stories.  Every pastel I paint en plein air or from my photos is thoughtfully selected to share a particular story with the viewer. Each is about where I live and how I experience my immediate environment whether fields, trees, gardens, roads, paths or historic adobe buildings.

I invite you to enter my world through my pastel paintings.
